- May I humbly apologies for the heineous crime of posting a binary file
- to a news group.
-
- In my defence I have only been on the net for 10 weeks and therefore I
- should have made a general inquiry about the protocol re- this nasty
- vicious crime;->
-
- I was happily reading the mail and saw this request from the young
- person in question asking for a particular file be posted to him as he
- was getting poor DTE and wanted to try it at his university - so I
- duly obliged being a king caring sort of person that I am.
-
- A day later I received a nice letter from punt@demon.co.uk instructing
- me that the mailing had been stopped and that I should not do it. It
- gave reasons and possible causes of the crime. Yes I should have e-
- mail him direct or posted to a binary group. In this letter 6 other
- mailing were also stopped by punt@demon.co.uk - so I am not the only
- offender;->
-
- What I did not like was that I subsequently received three posting
- from other persons complaining of this heineous crime and that one of
- them was rather abusive in his tone.
-
- This I found highly discourteous and if it was not for the fact that I
- am a gentleman in my thirties with a reasonable education - Then
- I woould probably had risen to the bait.
-
- Please for the future of the net - If anyone makes a simple mistake,
- then give them constructive criticism and point out the errors of
- their way - DONT get abusive otherwise we will just discourage people
- from joining and then what we happen? Will the net become a
- boys/girls club for the selective few whoc could not care about anyone
- else? or will it expand mightly and really become the Information
- Superhighway. I hope the latter is the case.
-
- Going back to the beginning of my letter - I again humbly apologise
- for this crime, and if I have inadvertently upset or harmed somebody
- then I can only say sorry - The original intention was good the way
- it was carried out wrong.
